Dear Reader,

I hope you’re feeling refreshed and energized today because I am most certainly AM! I was standing in my garden over the weekend, thinking it was time to add color to this landscape. And at this moment, standing in the sun enjoying a somewhat warm winter day, wondering what the heck can I plant. Just then, a big gust of cold wind blew through the yard knocking over several plants. A gentle nudge from mother nature reminding me exactly what season it is. Undeterred and determined compromise with good ole mother nature, the decision is made. Camilla’s, azalea, impatiens, and fuchsias satisfied my fix for now. I can’t wait for Spring, how about you? GardeningInLA.net is a great monthly resource if you like to keep your hands in the dirt.

Sustainable & Tech: Upgrading your home? Add sustainability and Tech. The 2022 trend list is inspired by the need for our current spaces to become a touch of everything while integrating sustainable items like the following Energy-Efficient Lighting, Use Recycled, Repurposed or Reclaimed Materials, Upgraded Windows, and Doors, Switch to Solar Energy. For more ideas, check out this sustainability resource, Ecowatch.com. Smart home technology is integrating more fully into homeowners' lives, from turning on the shower to monitoring energy usage to automating appliances. Fun fact, buyers comparing similar homes will pay more for the home with smart technology. 61% of millennials would favor smart-tech homes, as would 59 percent of parents with children in the house. Recent surveys prove that equipping your home with "smart home" technology makes your everyday life easier and your home safer and increases the value. Ready to make your home smarter? This is a "smart" place to start. SmartHome.com

My take on the Market: Will the Fed's raise rates? Yes. Have rates already moved upward? Yes. Will there be 3 rate hikes? No. Do I have a crystal ball? I wish. Remember, even if rates nudge up, we are still at historic lows. Will the rate hike slow the market? No. There is no indication that a flood of inventory will appear to quench the buyers' thirst. In fact, the slow rollout of home listings indicates inventory may be just as low this year as last year.

Respectfully,
